After almost 19 faithful years on the Scottsdale Police force, Zeus the horse is stepping down.
At 26 years old, Zeus is retiring from the mounted patrol unit and officers say the old guy has earned his oats.
“Zeus was a steadfast and reliable horse,” wrote Officer Aaron Bolin, who served in the mounted patrol unit from 2013 through 2018, in an email to the Daily Independent. “He was very athletic for his size and was a willing partner to the officers who worked with him. With his striking looks, he was also a favorite with the community at events and when working in Old Town. He’s going to live a great life in his much-deserved retirement!”
