A driver has been arrested and charged with aggravated DUI after driving about 11 miles late Sunday night along Loop 202 in the East Valley, authorities said.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said it received several 911 calls shortly before midnight Sunday, Oct. 23, about a wrong-way driver traveling eastbound along the westbound lanes of Loop 202 at Alma School Road.
Troopers were aided by aerial units and found the vehicle traveling at Recker Road, according to DPS.

Wrong-way driver travels 11 miles in East Valley

A driver has been arrested and charged with aggravated DUI after driving about 11 miles late Sunday night along Loop 202 in the East Valley, authorities said.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said it received several 911 calls shortly before midnight Sunday, Oct. 23, about a wrong-way driver traveling eastbound along the westbound lanes of Loop 202 at Alma School Road.
Troopers were aided by aerial units and found the vehicle traveling at Recker Road, according to DPS.
One trooper was able to stop traffic so another trooper could stop the wrong-way driver, officials said.
The driver’s preliminary breath sample was .186%, DPS stated in a release.
