A wrong-way driver crashed into Buckeye Police and Arizona Department of Public Safety vehicles Thursday night, injuring a trooper who was hospitalized, authorities said.
The crash occurred June 8 in the northbound lanes of State Routed 85 near milepost 141, Buckeye police said in a release late Thursday night.
Buckeye officers were assisting DPS in locating a wrong-way driver who reportedly was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of SR 85.
After finding the vehicle, it crashed into a Buckeye patrol unit and then collided with a DPS vehicle, police said.
The trooper and the wrong-way driver were taken to a hospital with injuries.
The man driving the wrong way is suspected of being impaired, police said.
