PHOENIX — Most successful high school wrestling teams can point to a work ethic or a handful of leaders who helped make a difference.
In the case of the 2025-26 Liberty boys, according to coach Eric Brenton, the Lions’ third-place team Division I finish and four individual state titles are due to all-around leadership — from all returning varsity lettermen and a long list of assistant coaches.
Brenton was away from the team from last summer, when he was placed on administrative leave amid a hazing investigation, until the Peoria Unified Governing Board narrowly voted to return him to his teaching and coaching duties, effective Jan. 16.
