World Baseball Classic warms up in Arizona

USA, 5 other countries to play pair of local exhibition games

The Valley has been instrumental in the history of the World Baseball Classic since its first iteration in 2006.

Phoenix hosted games for the inaugural tournament, while it and Scottsdale each welcomed countries in 2013. The Valley hosted parts of last year’s tournament as well.

The sixth edition of the World Baseball Classic, which runs March 5-17, will not be held in the Valley this time, but six countries will spend two days here for exhibition games against Cactus League teams.
