Women's Equality Day: Scottsdale presiding judge talks leadership, work

Bayardi: 'I just have to lead like me'

For Women’s Equality Day, on Aug. 26, Marianne T. Bayardi joins a long list of Scottsdale’s history of “strong female” leaders in the spotlight.

Selected by the Scottsdale City Council to be a City Court presiding judge in February, Bayardi was sworn in March 21 and has settled into her seat on the bench.

Bayardi is among a host of notable women in leadership roles in Scottsdale, which includes four female charter officers and five female city council members. For Women’s History Month, council members Tammy Caputi, Betty Janik, Kathy Littlefield, Linda Milhaven and Solange Whitehead were recognized and participated in a moderated discussion, facilitated by Jackie Johnson, the city’s new diversity program director.
