Authorities searched the campus, surrounding fields and rooms of a nearby church with no results.
Detectives listened to the 911 call and recognized the voice of possibly belonging to Melanie A. Hendrick.
Prior to the call, detectives were at her home several blocks from the school for a follow-up on a recent string of residential burglaries.
After the search, officers returned to Ms. Hendrick’s home where a family member verified the voice on the 911 call to be hers.
Police arrested Ms. Hendrick in the afternoon after she admitted to telling the 911 operator of a man with a shotgun at the school.
Ms. Hendrick said she used the call to divert detectives away from her home because she had information on the recent string of burglaries.
She was booked into the Maricopa County Fourth Avenue Jail for filing a false report.
