Woman shot, killed while inside car, suspect identified: Tempe police

An 18-year-old woman is dead, and the suspect in her killing is hospitalized following a Thursday night shooting near West Broadway Road and Interstate 10, police said.

Police found a man a woman shot when they arrived at the scene about 8:15 p.m. June 15, according to authorities.

The woman was in the car with the 20-year-old man who allegedly shot her.

An 18-year-old woman is dead, and the suspect in her killing is hospitalized following a Thursday night shooting near West Broadway Road and Interstate 10, police said.

Police found a man a woman shot when they arrived at the scene about 8:15 p.m. June 15, according to authorities.

The woman was in the car with the 20-year-old man who allegedly shot her.

The suspect left the car, and it appears he shot himself, according to police, who added that further investigation revealed the two were in a romantic relationship.

The woman died at the scene, and police said the suspect will be booked into the Maricopa County jail once released from the hospital.

Broadway Road was shut down from 48th to 52nd streets during the investigation.
