Woman killed in hit-and-run collision in central Phoenix

A 53-year-old woman was killed Monday night in a hit-and-run collision in central Phoenix, according to a news release from the Phoenix Police Department on Tuesday.

According to the release, at approximately 7 p.m. Sept. 28, Phoenix Police and Phoenix Fire responded to reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision on Indian School Road, near the Interstate 17 overpass.

Upon arrival, first responders found a female pedestrian. She had been struck by a vehicle, which had subsequently fled the scene. Phoenix Fire transported the victim to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. She was later identified as 53-year-old Jana Stovall.
