Man dies from injuries in Glendale fire, bringing death toll to 2
Posted
Two people are now dead after an apartment fire in Glendale earlier this month.
The fire happened the morning of Monday, Jan. 13 at an apartment complex near 51st and Northern avenues.
Glendale crews said they found a fire blocking the exits to the first and second floors of a section of the apartments. Crews searched multiple units for victims before coming across Heather Marie Williams.
She was taken out of her unit and was immediately treated at the scene. However, she did not survive her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said a man exited Ms. Williams’ unit on his own but suffered injuries, to include 44% of his body.
His page states that their dog was also killed in the blaze.
Timmy continued to receive treatment at the hospital, and was last reported in a medically-induced coma.
However, on Wednesday, Jan. 22, the GoFundMe's organizer Shana Van Atta stated that Timmy died from his injuries. His full name is Timothy Paul Leonor.
"It is with great sadness to announce Timmy's passing at 9:09 a.m. this morning," her post states. "He unfortunately did not have a good day in surgery yesterday and doctors could not stabilize his blood pressure with medication and dialysis."
The post further stated that doctors found some of Mr. Leonor's organs to be dead. The family decided to take him off life support.
