The shooting occurred about 6:10 a.m. Aug. 1 near 40th Street and Meadow Drive. When officers arrived, they found Alma Suchilt with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.

The initial officers at the scene gathered information leading to a suspect: 47-year-old Jonathan Llamas Cisneros, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.

Llamas Cisneros was tracked to Interstate 8 and was found to be traveling south toward Gila Bend.  A traffic stop was attempted, but Llamas Cisneros failed to comply and took off from officers, police said.

He was stopped and arrested with several agencies assisting Phoenix police.

“Evidence linking Llamas Cisneros to the murder was found at the time of his arrest,” the release stated.

The suspect was booked on multiple charges that include murder and felony flight. The case is considered to be a domestic violence incident as Suchilt and Llamas Cisneros have a child in common, police said.
