Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a collision Oct. 3 that left one woman dead in north Phoenix.

Just after 11 a.m. on Oct. 3, officers responded to the area of 18th Street and Greenway Parkway regarding a collision, according to the release. As officers arrived on the scene, they located both vehicles and the occupants involved in the collision.

The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and transported one adult female, later identified as 86-year-old Jacqueline Louise Nelson, to a nearby hospital in critical condition, and she later died, the release said.

Detectives from the Vehicular Crimes Unit responded to assume the investigation and process the scene, the release said.

Preliminary information indicated Nelson was eastbound on Greenway Parkway, attempting to make a left turn when she allegedly failed to yield at the intersection and collided with a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck remained on the scene and was transported to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this collision.
