A woman was in critical condition Thursday afternoon after she allegedly brandished a gun in a Scottsdale Police Department and officers shot her.

The incident occurred around 9:45 a.m., when a woman entered the police station lobby at 7601 E. McKellips Road, with a handgun, according a letter from Scottsdale City Manager Greg Caton to City Council members sent just before 1:30 p.m.

The letter states the woman pointed the firearm at a police aide, who immediately alerted other employees.
