An investigation is underway following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon near Jomax Road and Tatum Boulevard, Phoenix police said.
Officers responded to the crash scene about 12:55 p.m. May 29 and found a man and woman injured.
The man was taken to a hospital and remains there in stable condition. The woman, 87-year-old Shirley June Goodspeed, was also taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, police said.
Both vehicles involved remained at the scene after the collision, and detectives took over the investigation.
Preliminary information suggests that the vehicle that contained Goodspeed as a passenger was northbound on Tatum Boulevard and making a left turn onto Jomax Road when it struck the other vehicle, which was headed south on Tatum Boulevard, according to a release.
Charging decisions will be made after the accident reconstruction process is complete, police said.
