A 52-year-old woman is in jail in connection with the death of 89-year-old husband, Phoenix police said.

Police responded about 1:20 p.m. Dec. 8 to a call about an injured person in a home near 4700 North 39th Drive. Officers said they found Harold Hostetler with serious injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers learned that Harold’s wife, identified as 52-year-old Lawanda Hostetler, left the residence prior to police arrival,” a Phoenix Police Department release stated. She returned during the police investigation and was detained.

Later, she was booked into jail  for her  huband's death, police said.  Additional details about what led up to the incident remain part of the ongoing investigation, according to authorities.
