WM Phoenix Open sees huge, raucous crowds

Tournament temporarily closes gates and suspends alcohol sales

The WM Phoenix Open was viewed as something of a disaster this year and it had nothing to do with the rain.

Rain and bad weather did plague the early part of the seven day event known as “The People’s Open,” but the people came in force anyway — whether they had a ticket or not.

In fact, so many people were getting in on Saturday without tickets the event shut the gates. Even people with tickets couldn’t get in.
