With no June Pride Parade, these queer-owned businesses are celebrating differently

The Phoenix metro area has always celebrated Pride a bit differently than other parts of the country. Temperatures clearing 110 degrees Fahrenheit and a lack of tourism have created a gap in the community with no parades or multiday festivals.

There are, however, several queer-owned businesses that are excited to see what this year will bring.

“Remarkably, the Phoenix summer slump usually doesn’t hit us until July,” said Gabe Hagen, owner of Brick Road Coffee. “Pride really helps get people in the door.”
