Wind rips through Sun City lake

Liner, support material pulled up

Heavy winds April 25-26 played havoc with the liner already placed in Viewpoint Lake in Sun City.

Work crews from Pacific Aquascapes placed liner material along the banks of the lake from the middle of Hillside Park to Emerald Point, then laid down some rebar and wire mesh as the foundation and support for concrete banks. Crews had planned to apply the concrete beginning April 26.

But the winds that blew overnight and into the early morning got under the liner and, despite being weighted with sandbags, listed the liner material from its carefully placed position. That also took some of the rebar and mesh with it. The damage was confined to an area just west of where the boat dock would be installed to a point east at the start of the walking pathway at Hillside Park.
