SUN CITY - Wilmer Delmont Laney passed away on Jan. 27, 2013 after a lengthy battle with MDS surrounded by his loving family in Sun City, Ariz. Wilmer born in Grismore, Pa. on Jan. 30, 1938 preceded in death by parents, Ford and Charlotte Laney; and brother, Lester. He resided in Bedford/Walton Hills, Ohio for 40 years before moving to Sun City. He was a graduate of Westside Institute of Technology in Cleveland, Ohio and was a pipefitter for local #120. Wilmer was an active Mason serving as Worshipful Master and Worthy Patron of Eastern Star. He was a lifelong active member of First United Methodist Church in Bedford, Ohio, Sun City, Ariz. and Purchase Line, Pa. He is survived by sisters, Evelyn Crawford of Fla. and Violet McDannell of Tenn; and brother, Paul of Pa. Wilmer is also survived by his wonderful wife of 55 years, Janet Laney (Parry); son, Rick Laney of Sun City; and daughter, Dianna (Steve Posta) of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Alec and Ava Posts of Phoenix. Wilmer will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Wilmer's life with reception to follow will be held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 23, 2013 at First U.M.C. of Sun City. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Missions at First United Methodist Church – 9849 N. 105th Ave, Sun City, AZ 85351.
