William "Bill" Royal
Posted
William “Bill” Royal, who reached the grand age of 92, passed away peacefully listening to his favorite musical artist, Frank Sinatra, on September 20, 2024. Born in 1932 in the small town of Manchester Georgia, Bill ventured out at the age of 18 to join the Air Force and see the world.
After spending much of his life in California raising his family and working in the aerospace industry for nearly 40 years, Bill and his wife decided that the best way to enjoy retirement was to settle in Sun City West, Arizona, where the sun shines brighter than his collection of classic cars and the only thing more plentiful than golf carts was his list of songs that he sang at the SCW Karaoke Club.
Bill was an avid reader and read thousands of books. He had a passion for planes, aerospace and classic cars that could rival any enthusiast. If there was an air show or car show nearby, you could bet he was the guy wearing a grin as wide as the Grand Canyon.
He leaves behind his cherished wife of 58 years, Charlene Royal, who claims he was the best husband ever and will miss his wit and unwavering and loving presence by her side. Bill is survived by his three children: from his first marriage, Kurt (Connie) Byars, and from his marriage to Charlene; Steve Royal, and Lisa (Michael) Bowler. He also leaves behind his favorite nephew Scott (Yan) Perry. They all loved him dearly and will deeply miss his wisdom and sense of humor.
