William Joseph Quinn III known as Bill to his friends and family of Sun City, Arizona passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2025, after a brief illness. Bill was born in Charleston, South Carolina on November 14, 1943, to William J. Quinn II and Geraldine (McNally). Soon after graduating from Phoenix Union High School and an U.S. Army duty he was hired at Bell System’s Western Electric which later became AT&T. Bill was a millwright by trade but during his career he became incredibly involved in The Communication Workers of America. He was a lifelong advocate for fair treatment & equal rights for everyone and the CWA Union was the way he could help assist employees with such activities as the grievance process, trade representation, and local union activities for employees up to the President of the CWA. Bill was a very respected and resolute union member for his local. Bill loved to do many things such as hunting, fishing, grilling, gardening, DIY projects, and fixing a multitude of things. Mustangs and pickup trucks were his passion. Bill was very proud of his Irish heritage and proud to be an American and a Veteran. He was also a member of the Sun City American Legion Post #62 and The Moose Glendale Lodge #2243.
Bill is survived by his children Michele Crackel, Vince (Dierdre) Spina, and Christine (John) Lawritson, grandchildren Joshua Crackel, Madison and Mason Spina, Taylor Lawritson, sister Patricia Quinn (Marshall Kane), and nieces Aaron Quinn, Robin Quinn, and Siena Quinn Kane Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by the loves of his life first wife Donna Marie (Spina) and second wife Sara Elizabeth (Dennis), son in law Clinton Crackel, grandson Justin Lawritson, and brother Robert C. Quinn. Along with his family he is also very missed by his many friends and colleagues that were honored to know him. Memorial Service will be held April 1st, 2025 at 10:00 am at Heritage Arrowhead Funeral Center located at 7545 W. Rose Garden Lane, Glendale, AZ 85308. Internment 1:00 pm at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 10045 W. Thomas Rd., Avondale, AZ 85392.
