Wildlife World Zoo officials confirmed their facility was not impacted by a fire that broke out on a neighboring property Thursday, April 2.
Zoo employees acted quickly to contain the blaze, jumping the perimeter fence to extinguish flames before they could spread onto zoo grounds. Rural Metro firefighters arrived shortly after to assist, successfully preventing any damage to the facility.
“We are incredibly grateful for the fast response from our team and first responders, and we appreciate everyone’s concern and support,” the zoo said in a statement.
