Basketball teams want to enter showcase tournaments at full strength.
That did not align for Willow Canyon this month, particularly during the near 200-team Section 7 Team Camp event June 18-20 at State Farm Stadium and Kellis High School in Glendale. Coach Joseph Colletti said four of his team’s top eight players were banged up.
Senior wing and top returning rebounder David Bright missed the tournament. And senior 21-point scorer Pike Tancil decided to play in from of the crowds of college coaches rather than sitting out. Colletti said Tancil got some “good attention” from college teams and did not exacerbate his injury.
