WIDE, OPEN ROAD: Loop 101 widening ahead of schedule, new I-10 widening to start in fall

With a growing population, the Valley will see the completion of one freeway widening project this year and the start of construction of another.

The widening of Loop 101 in the northeast Valley (cost $185 million) is ahead of schedule, with transportation officials now expecting completion by mid-2021, up from an original schedule of Fall 2021. Construction will begin in the fall to widen I-10 in the southeast Valley with a price tag of $700 million.

The northwest Valley will have its turn with freeway widening, but construction on that Loop 101 project is not expected to start until 2024.
