OPINION — As a Surprise resident for over 20 years, I do not understand all of the "panic" over the proposed future ICE detainment facility.
Joyce Benjamin wrote that it is going to be a “maximum security prison.” Others say it is going to ruin the city of Surprise.
And in one of the first news stories out, a local homeowner said that she could spit from her front yard and hit the warehouse. I drove around the entire warehouse when it was first announced. If she lived in the closest residence she couldn’t even come close, even with the assistance of a strong haboob.
