Why Phoenix hasn’t seen the D-backs in a while

Team’s franchise-tying 11-game road trip ends Monday, when the club begins a 10-game homestand with 50 games left in the season

The Arizona Diamondbacks have been gone so long that fans had the unusual opportunity to play golf inside Chase Field.

The D-backs were last in town July 22 when they beat the A’s 15–5 to win the two-game series. They pounded out 17 hits and five home runs before boarding their charter flight for what has become their longest road trip of the season.

The biggest attraction back home has been Upper Deck Golf, held July 24–25, which transformed Chase Field into a nine-hole golf course, allowing fans to hit golf balls from various seating levels onto custom targets positioned throughout the playing field. A portion of the proceeds benefited Stand Up To Cancer.
