Mom calls on Kelly, Gallego to support Child Care Modernization Act

Mesa resident: Legislation will build on Child Care and Development Block Grant program for Arizona’s working families

OPINION — As a working mother of two daughters, I know how hard it can be to balance working shifts and being on call with the very real, daily stress of affording quality child care. Because of that, I am deeply grateful for the Child Care and Development Block Grant program.

In Arizona, infant care averages $1,330 a month, but thanks to CCDBG, eligible families pay as little as $35 a month. That's over $15,000 a year back in the hands of working parents.

When child care is accessible, parents can stay in the workforce, confident that their children have opportunities to learn and grow. That reliability and peace of mind matters enormously, especially for those of us in the healthcare industry, where our presence makes a difference daily.
