OPINION — Recently, Abe Hamadeh, our Congressman in Congressional District 8, posted on social media that his office does not belong to him alone. On that point I could not agree more.
He then proceeded to brag that his office was one of the most beautiful in Washington and that it should reflect the beauty and spirit of the district he represents.
I could still agree with him up to a certain point. That point being that this beauty and spirit should also be reflected in his local office that is accessible to his constituents. Seeing as our representative does not have an office that is accessible to us, does this mean that what he deems to be an office does belong to him alone? Or does it mean that seeing as it is not even in our district, he does not have to represent us?
