Why I think Trump, GOP policies are harming people

OPINION — I believe in country over party and I vote for a candidate based on what he stands for and whether he is believable or not. Sometimes it is necessary to vote one party out of power when their policies hurt the people of our great nation.
Some questions I ask: Is our country coming closer together or becoming more divided? Is our hard-working middle class growing or shrinking? Is the gap between rich and poor widening? Are taxes being cut for the wealthy at the expense of struggling and hard-working families?
My son, a mechanic with three children, will have his health premiums go from $500 to almost $1,500 because Trump and the Republicans will discontinue the Affordable Care Act or at least cripple it. He will not be able to afford health care for his family. He is not alone.
Medical research to cure cancer and other diseases is being cut dramatically. Hard-working parents whose children fought in our military are being rounded up by masked men with no ID.
The Republicans have a chance to do wonderful things since they control both houses and the presidency. Our president rules with personal whims, rather carefully considering the consequences of his actions.
More people need to be aware of the harm that is being done and should open their minds and get information from sources that speak truth. There is still hope.
