Why I don’t support ICE detention facilities

Sun City West reader fears history is repeating itself

OPINION — I have lived in Arizona for 72 years and in my 72 years, I have lived in neighborhoods and gone to school and church with Mexican Americans. I did not ask them if they came here legally or illegally because I didn’t care. They were hard-working people trying to make a good living for their family.

Has the woman who told us how good the conditions are in ICE detention facilities been in one? Where is she getting her information? What I see and hear on bipartisan news media is not anywhere close to the truth.

Also, the gentleman who questioned the phrase, “concentration camps.” What would he call a place where hundreds of people are confined without a trial? Do we not remember what our government did to Japanese Americans during WWII?
