OPINION — I’d like to respond to Jim Branton’s letter regarding rooftop solar. The installation of rooftop solar is by far the best decision a homeowner can make, regardless of tax breaks — this is the long-term view we all should taking, especially in Arizona.
There is no denying that rooftop solar is a cost-effective generator of electricity and one we should fully embrace now.
Credits from APS do vary and the buyback rate has decreased every year since 2017, but that also should not be the determining factor. Fewer credits means a longer return on your investment, but that doesn’t change the fact that solar is one of our best economical and ecological decisions we as a civilized society can make at this time.
