Why Arizonans mustn’t back down on ICE demands

OPINION — This is not the moment to back off pressure on ICE.

This week, President Trump said his administration would “de-escalate a little bit” in response to growing protests over ICE actions. A little bit.

There has been no announcement of real policy change; no clear limits placed on ICE. No commitment to accountability. We’ve seen staff reshuffling and softer rhetoric, but across the country, including here in the Phoenix area, enforcement is ramping up, not slowing down.
