When youth tobacco use declines, why is FDA silent?

OPINION — The Food and Drug Administration recently quietly posted a ZIP file on its website containing the 2025 National Youth Tobacco Survey, the federal government’s benchmark study for tracking tobacco use among kids. 

Each year, senior FDA staff and officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention normally issue public statements about what the numbers mean and show.

This year, there was silence.
