When ‘kidfluencer’ exploitation comes from inside the house

OPINION — There’s been a lot of talk about how helpless parents are to keep their children off the internet.

What happens when the parents are the ones putting them there?

In July 2025, ABC News Studios released “Born to Be Viral: The Real Lives of Kidfluencers” on Hulu. The six-part docuseries — shot over five years — follows some of the internet’s most prominent child creators and their families: family vloggers the Fishers, the McClures and their Forbes-rated twin influencers Ava and Alexis, global kidfluencer powerhouse Like Nastya, and newcomer Ethan Rodriguez, managed by his “momager.”
