Wheat : RCSC should reconsider rate hike

Posted

I humbly ask the Recreation Centers of Sun City board to reconsider raising the member rates to $575 a year.

Their increase comes along with the forthcoming water rate increase, which is expected to be a 4% to 8%. The APS rate increase will be coming behind that and we don’t know what APS will be asking. There are just way too many requests for more money from our residents, especially from the people living on a fixed income.

RCSC has suggested that the Sun City Foundation can pick up the necessary increase in member fees, but as a member of the board, we are limited in what we can do and this increase will push more people over the edge.

I realize as a member myself of three boards in Sun City, an Elk Trustee, SCHOA director and the Sun City Foundation director that we are all volunteers and people sometimes do not realize what we have to go through to make unfavorable decisions. I do not see an alternative motive here, just a board trying to do what’s best for Sun City, but sometimes we have to live with what we have, so please do not increase the fees it will hurt too many people.

Thank you for all you do,
