Valley homeowners discuss the presence of pests on their properties
We just moved here in May and all was well until the asphalt in front of our house was repaved a few weeks ago. We killed two scorpions in our house the week after they completed repaving, and early this morning we found a dead baby scorpion in our hallway. I know three scorpions may not seem like enough to panic over, but we have a 21 month old and the thought of her getting stung is terrifying. I’ve never dealt with scorpions any place I’ve lived and am looking for pest control recommendations along with DIY treatments that are kid/pet safe. Thanks in advance! — Jessica Renee Houser

Waiting
We get scorpions a lot, too! My whole family has been stung, I am the one who is still waiting for the time to be stung. Make sure you stay up on your pest control, especially during the summer months. Kill their food source. We walk through almost nightly with a black light in our house. We keep things off of the floors. No shoes, no toys, clothes. It sucks and I hate them so much. — April Chavez

Sealed
We had our house sealed and that made a huge difference! We also switched pest control and am very happy ... and have no issues. We do find a dead one in the garage now and then, but I’ll take that over the house Any day! — Sheryl Jorgensen Masowdi

Contracted
They like to eat crickets. If you get a black light, they glow at night in the light and you can easily kill them with scorpion spray. Only advice on pest control is most of them will lock you in a contract. — Jayson White

Earthy
Welcome to the desert. If you have scorpions in your house, you will probably always have some sort of problem with them, but you can lessen them by laying down some diatomaceous earth around your entrance ways around your house... — John Johnston
