What’s up with all the bad drivers in the West Valley?
Area motorists discuss road behaviors in Arizona
Why have Surprise drivers started to drive so rude, running red lights ... speeding on small streets and no turn signals? I feel that it has gotten worse in the last year. — Isaac Gonzalez

No consequences
There are no consequences. I haven’t seen anyone pulled over since before the pandemic of 2020. No one is afraid of getting a ticket or pulled over and of course, in regards to a wreck ... Love our police but I think they need to be out there and pulling the law breakers over. Then we’d all think twice. — Vicki McArthur Spiegel

R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Bad drivers without patience, and/or manners. Cell phones wrongly used by drivers and/or loud music. Pay our police good wages and show better respect! Have more squad cars on our traffic ways ... now officers, get ‘em. — Karen Sawicki

Negative
With all the negativity about “outsiders” and “transplants” and people moving here, I’m questioning my choice to move my family here. Geesh! I thought we were free in this country. My husband spent over 20 years moving us all over the world in the Air Force, and I’ve never seen such attitudes toward “new people.” I don’t think there’s any connection between living somewhere else and all the obviously perfect drivers who have lived in Surprise their whole lives? — Stephanie Nichols
___
Hurried
California transplants, they drive like they still live there. Following too close. I lived in California in the ‘90s and I don’t remember driving like that nor do I remember others driving like that. They seem to be in a hurry! — Beverly Torriero

Imperfect
It has nothing to do with people from California. I lived there for 30 years and I’ve been here 18! It’s the sense of entitlement that people seem to have these days ... Where I’m going is more important than where you’re going! It’s instant gratification, I need to get where I’m going right now! It’s stress and people’s lives, things are much more difficult now then even when I moved here 18 years ago! People are agitated and angry, a lot of them for good reason and it’s really unfortunate. You can’t blame poor driving just on the people from California. I don’t believe people that are from here are perfect either! — Julie Cunningham-Hoffman
___
Insane
I just moved here from a small country town similar to Mayberry and moving here has induced my driving anxiety. It’s insane out there. — Rochelle Rysdam Alfonso
___
Unenforced
I’m from the Midwest, but I lived in New York for several years and it was the same way. Thought I was going to die on the Taconic Highway. So, unfortunately, unless there is strict enforcement then it doesn’t get better. — Michael Jerk
