What do we tell our children after Minneapolis protester’s fatal shooting?

OPINION — Alex Pretti was someone’s son.

We teach our children to look out for others. To be kind. To help when they can. To speak up for those who can’t speak up for themselves. To use their privilege for good.

Alex did exactly what we ask of our children … what we hope they will do. He looked out for others. He showed up when it was hard. And when he didn’t know what to say, he bore witness.
