Westgate restaurant accepts back to school donations for Glendale district

As kids start a new school year, Westgate Entertainment District is welcoming the community to take part in its fourth annual Back to School drive benefiting Glendale Elementary School District.

Donations are being accepted now until Aug. 14.

People are invited to give new backpacks, school supplies, clothing and other classroom essentials, which are being collected at Chicken N Pickle, 9330 W. Hanna Lane, Glendale.

At 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, Glendale City Council Member Dianna Guzman will visit Westgate to donate school supplies and encourage community support for the drive. Westgate is part of her council district.

This back to school donation will benefit more than 8,000 students across 12 elementary schools, one preschool and one alternative school in Glendale Elementary School District.

GESD will start classes on Aug. 10. All 14 school campuses are in Glendale city bundaries, including the downtown area.

The district also operates a social services campus, GESD System of Care Center at 7677 W. Bethany Home Road.
