Museum reflects on ‘A Decade of Dust and Dreams’

Repeatedly rated the No. 1 Western Museum by True West Magazine, Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West (SMOWEST) held a special ceremony Wednesday, Jan. 15, to commemorate its 10th anniversary.

Entitled “A Decade of Dust and Dreams,” the celebration was hosted by Robin Sewell, executive producer of the award-winning Arizona Highways Television who welcomed attendees to place their “notes for the future” into a time capsule that will be sealed and reopened in the year 2035.

SMOWEST is one of six Smithsonian affiliate museums in Arizona that has object and art loans from the Smithsonian Institution. The museum’s CEO Todd Bankofier was presented with a certificate of acknowledgment of the 10 years of Smithsonian affiliation from Trisha Edwards, the director of Smithsonian affiliations.
