The Westbrook Village Players present “The Dixie Swim Club” as their first production of 2018.
The Westbrook Village Players is a group of theater lovers who work together to produce two theatrical productions each year, one in the spring and one in the fall. “The Dixie Swim Club” opens its run at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 16 at Vistas Recreation Center Auditorium, 18825 N. Country Club Parkway.
“The Dixie Swim Club” follows five southern women whose friendships began on their college swim team and continues as they set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. The play follows four of those weekends and spans a period of 33 years as their lives unfold.
The Westbrook Village Players is a not-for-profit volunteer organization that entirely produces each of its own plays. Some of the actors are active in other theaters around the Valley as well. In addition, the Players have actively worked with area schools and retirement homes to recreate historical characters and events.
The Village Players have been producing two plays a year since their start in 1998. The club develops theatrical skills of interested Westbrook Village residents through workshops and productions to encourage creativity of its members and to increase cultural opportunities for Westbrook Village. Open auditions are held for all productions.
