2 West Valley school district overrides defeated by 1,500 votes

School districts could lose close to $10 million a year in funding

Thirty years of continuous budget overrides in two West Valley school districts came to an abrupt end Nov. 2 when residents voted down override measures that provide Agua Fria Union High School District and Litchfield Elementary School District with close to $10 million annually.

Each override failed by about 1,500 votes, according to the final results posted Nov. 5 by the Maricopa County Elections Department.

Results show that AFUHSD saw a 22.18% voter turnout.
