What needs to happen for your squad to reach the state tournament this season, or reach the goals the program has set? To reach the state tournament, we have to continue to work hard every day at the little things, care about our teammates more than we do ourselves, and stay together especially when things aren’t going the way we want them to.

What is your team’s best attribute entering this season? I think the best attribute is we have some familiarity between coaching staff and players and they understand the expectations are.

What will your team need to improve for the season to be a success? I think we need to communicate better on the field and make the routine plays and we need to have selfless at bats.

Makenzie Celeya, our rock behind the plate, always brings energy and effort.

Chloe Hetrick - freshman - SS/OF (good athlete brings athleticism and depth)

What needs to happen for your squad to reach the state tournament this season, or reach the goals the program has set? We need to stay healthy and continue to build chemistry as a team. We need to embrace a specific role each game and do the job that is asked.

What is your team’s best attribute entering this season? Willow Canyon's best attribute going into the season will be our ability to put runs on the board. We have a deep lineup with kids that are able to do a number of different things offensively.

What will your team need to improve for the season to be a success? We need to catch the ball more consistently and make better decision on defense. I would like to see us improve our base running as well. We do not have a ton of team speed, so taking advantage of opportunities on the bases will be huge this season.

Who are your team leaders? Brooke Windahl is a four year starter for the Wildcats. She will be counted on to lead our team on and off the field. Mackenzie Federico, Carrigan Foster, and Mo Forster lead by example. They are confident players who some of our younger kids look up to.

Who are newcomers to the varsity squad that could make an impact? Freshman Hannah Bowers is a versatile player who will fill a number of roles for us as the season progresses. Junior transfer Andraya Rhinehart will be a key piece to our playoff run. She hits the ball well, plays good defense, and has an advanced understanding of the game.Rachel Broussard will see a lot of time in the circle this year. This is her first season at the varsity level. If she is able to handle the pressure, Rachel will be a really good pitcher.

What needs to happen for your squad to reach the state tournament this season, or reach the goals the program has set? Like all teams, we need to stay healthy this year. We do have a deep team, but keeping all the players on the field for the whole season will be a plus. On the field, we have to improve our overall team defense. Our pitching staff will not strike a lot of kids out, so finding outs throughout the course of the game is imperative.
