West Valley mayor helping bankroll 2 Peoria council candidates

Bottorf, Stokes get big checks from Beck

The first quarter of the city council election cycle has concluded and filings show Mesquite District candidate Tom Bottorf is getting the most support from individual donors, including Peoria Mayor Jason Beck, who has funded about half of his campaign.

Beck donated $5,000 to Bottorf and is bankrolling Ironwood District candidate Rick Stokes’ campaign, also with a $5,000 donation. Stokes is running unopposed for the seat held by Councilmember Bill Patena, who announced in March he would not run for reelection.

Reports also show Bottorf and Stokes have hired Beck’s political consultant Camelback Strategy Group, each paying the firm $4,800 in this reporting period, which ran from Jan. 1 to March 31.
