West Valley hospital certified as comprehensive stroke center

The Abrazo West Campus hospital in Goodyear announced Sept. 2 that it received certification as a DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center, the highest designation for stroke care.

The certification is awarded to hospitals equipped to diagnose and treat severe and complex strokes. Abrazo West is the only DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in Arizona west of Interstate 17. 

"Patients who live and work in the West Valley now have access to the highest level of stroke care in their community, when in the past they’d have to travel to Central Phoenix for this level of care," said CEO Brian Elisco.

Abrazo West provides 24-hour access to stroke specialists, advanced diagnostic imaging and interventional procedures. Its neuroscience services also include neurology, neurosurgery and advanced spine surgery.
