West Valley families learn challenges of accessing state long-term care benefits

As more than 75,000 Arizonans rely on the state’s long-term care Medicaid program, families in the West Valley are learning that qualifying for the benefit can be a complicated and time-sensitive process, especially for caregivers already managing a loved one’s declining health.

Residents gathered recently at the Goodyear library for a presentation on Arizona Long-Term Care Services, a state-run Medicaid program administered through the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System.

As of Feb. 1, 75,551 people are enrolled statewide.
