West Valley Arts Council looks to broaden its reach

Arts and culture nonprofit planning new online platform, other Arts HQ spaces

The West Valley Arts Council, a nonprofit arts and culture advocate serving the West Valley for more than 50 years, is looking to broaden its reach.

In June, the city of Goodyear removed a line from its bylaw that had required the city’s Arts & Culture Commission to have among its nine-member body a representative from the West Valley Arts Council. A WVAC member would lend perspective “specifically in public art,” said Guylene Ozlanski, the city of Goodyear’s arts and culture administrator.

The commission is comprised of nine Goodyear residents, one alternate, and one ex-officio member. Commissioners are appointed by the city council and serve a three-year term with a two-term limit.
