The West Valley Arts Council is seeking submissions from African American artists across Arizona for its upcoming “Community Canvas: Celebrating Black Artists” exhibit, scheduled to coincide with Juneteenth.
The exhibition will run May 22 through July 21 at the Avondale Civic Center Library, inside the city’s new art gallery space near the facility’s entrance. Organizers say the show aims to highlight the work and stories of local Black artists while providing a platform for community engagement and art sales.
The call is open to professional and emerging artists age 18 and older who live in Arizona. Organizers also require that all entries be family-friendly and properly framed for display.
