State transportation officials advise drivers to make plans and expect detours this weekend when southbound State Route 143 will be closed between Loop 202 and Interstate 10.

Crews will be working to remove overhead signs from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, to 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7.

The road as well and the following will be closed:

• The ramps from Loop 202 to southbound SR 143.

• The westbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Sky Harbor Boulevard.

• The southbound SR 143 on-ramps at Washington Street, Sky Harbor Boulevard and University Drive.

• The eastbound I-10 off-ramp at 48th Street.

• The westbound I-10 ramp to northbound SR 143.

The Arizona Department of Transportation suggests the following detours:

Southbound SR 143 detour for westbound Loop 202 drivers: Use westbound Loop 202 to eastbound I-10 to access destinations south of the closure. To access University Drive, use eastbound I-10 to northbound 40th Street.

Southbound SR 143 detour for eastbound Loop 202 drivers: Use eastbound Loop 202 to southbound Loop 101 to westbound Loop 202 to access destinations south of the closure. To access University Drive, use eastbound Loop 202 to southbound Priest Drive.

East Valley airport traffic: From Loop 202, use southbound 44th Street.
