The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to allow extra time while the following closures are in place for the Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) Loop 101 to Val Vista Drive widening project:
Weeknight restrictions (Aug. 12-16)
• Eastbound Loop 202 will be narrowed to two lanes nightly between Alma School Road and Arizona Avenue from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. from Monday, Aug. 12, to the morning of Friday, Aug. 16.
Weekend closure (Aug. 16-19)
• Eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will be closed between Arizona Avenue and Gilbert Road from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19.
The eastbound Loop 202 on-ramps at Price, Dobson and Alma School roads will also be closed.
• DETOUR: Motorists traveling east on Loop 202 may consider exiting ahead of the closure and use Pecos or Germann roads.
Aug. 23-26 weekend closure
• Eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will be closed between Gilbert Road and Val Vista Drive from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, to 5 a.m Monday. Aug. 26. The eastbound Loop 202 on-ramps at Arizona Avenue and McQueen and Cooper roads also will be closed.
ADOT urges drivers to plan ahead for detours and travel delays; slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the restrictions are in place. The Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) Loop 101 to Val Vista Drive widening project will require additional overnight and weekend closures and restrictions in the coming months.
